In late September, the 2009 Annual NGV Conference and Summit was held in Long Beach, California. The three day event, “Natural Gas Vehicles: North America’s Transportation Future – Today,” addressed issues ranging from emerging research and development, safety standards, and fleet integration.
As part of the Conference, each year, the NGV industry presents its Annual NGV Achievement Awards in recognition of persons and organizations whose actions contributed significantly to the increased use of natural gas as a vehicular fuel. The five 2009 NGV Achievement Awards presented at this year’s NGV Conference-Summit were:
- AT&T: NGV Fleet Deployment and Public Outreach Program - Accepting on behalf of AT&T was Jerome Webber, VP of Fleet Operations.
- Bob Carrick, Western Region Vocational Manager – Natural Gas, Freightliner Truck: Daimler Natural Gas Truck Commercialization Program - Bob was on hand to accept his award.
- Chesapeake Energy Corporation: Natural Gas Fleet and Public Outreach Program - Accepting on behalf of Chesapeake was Taylor Shinn, Manager of Corporate Development .
- Culver City, California: NGV Fleet Deployment and CNG Station Program – Accepting on behalf of the City were Martin Cole, Assistant City Manager, and Paul Condran, Equipment Maintenance Manager.
- T. Boone Pickens – Founder and Chairman, B.P. Capital: The Pickens Plan – Rich Kolodziej accepted the award on Boone’s behalf.
